India started strongly and took control of the match in the opening quarter. Captain Harmanpreet Singh opened the scoring through a penalty corner before adding another goal to put India 2-0 ahead. The Indian side continued to create pressure and extended its advantage in the second quarter when Sukhjeet Singh converted a field opportunity following a well-worked move.

Pakistan responded before halftime through Abu Mahmood, who scored from a penalty corner to reduce the deficit to 3-1. India entered the second half with a two-goal advantage, but Pakistan gradually increased the pressure and made the semifinal increasingly competitive. Hannan Shahid pulled another goal back for Pakistan in the third quarter, bringing the score to 3-2. India then faced further pressure in the final quarter, and Waheed Rana scored to level the contest at 3-3. With the match heading towards a tense finish, both teams pushed for the decisive goal.

India finally found the breakthrough in the 59th minute. Abhishek’s attempt resulted in the ball deflecting off a Pakistani defender’s stick and finding the net, giving India a 4-3 lead. Pakistan could not respond before the final whistle, allowing India to book its place in the Asian Games hockey final. The victory keeps India’s campaign for another Asian Games hockey gold medal alive. The Indian men’s team will play the final on October 3, with Malaysia or South Korea set to be the opponent.
