India’s Women Archers Win Gold, Create History by Beating China

Asian Games 2026 archery gold

India’s women’s compound archery team won Asian Games 2026 archery gold on Wednesday, beating China 238-234 in the final at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Square in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. The win is India’s seventh gold of the Games. It also matches a world record that South Korea set at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

India Dominate Women’s Compound Archery Final

Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Chikitha Taniparthi and Prithika Pradeep combined effectively throughout the final. India established an early advantage and managed to protect its lead despite China attempting to fight back during the later stages. The Indian team remained composed under pressure and finished the contest with 238 points. The score also matched the existing world record for the event, adding another significant achievement to India’s gold-medal campaign.

Historic Gold for Indian Archers

The victory also saw India retain its women’s compound team title at the Asian Games. The country had previously won the event at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. For Jyothi Surekha Vennam, the triumph added another Asian Games gold to her impressive record. Chikitha Taniparthi and Prithika Pradeep, meanwhile, celebrated their first Asian Games gold medals. India’s 238-234 victory over China therefore became more than just another medal—it marked a record-equalling performance and strengthened the country’s presence in compound archery.
