The Central Government of India has announced revised COVID-19 vaccine prices for private hospitals on Tuesday. After taxes and service charges, one shot of Covishield will cost Rs 780, a shot of COVAXIN will cost Rs 1,410, and a shot of Sputnik V will cost Rs 1,145, according to reports.

According to the manufacturer, a dose of Covishield costs Rs 600, a dose of COVAXIN costs Rs 1200, and a dose of Sputnik V costs Rs 948. However, after factoring in the 5% GST imposed on vaccine doses, which amounts to Rs 30 for Covishield, Rs 60 for Covaxin, and Rs 47.40-47 for Sputnik V, as well as the service charge of Rs 150 (revised under the new vaccination guidelines), the final price per dose comes to Rs 30 for Covishield, Rs 60 for Covaxin, and Rs 47.40-47 for Sputnik V.

In addition to the Rs 35,000-crore fund set out in the budget, the Centre is willing to contribute additional funds.

According to government officials, the centralised vaccine campaign is expected to cost the Centre between Rs 45,000 and Rs 50,000 crore in the first estimations.

In the meanwhile, all government-run hospitals will offer vaccinations to individuals over the age of 18 for free.

Private hospitals will not be allowed to charge more than Rs 150 per dose, in addition to the cost of the vaccination. State governments will be in charge of overseeing the situation.

“Seven companies are producing different vaccines and another three vaccines are in the advanced stage of clinical trials. Procurement of vaccines from other countries has also picked up the pace,” he said.

According to the Prime Minister, several specialists have expressed concerns regarding children, and two studies for Covid-19 vaccinations for children are currently underway.
