Iran attacks US Bases in Kuwait and Bahrain After Qeshm Island Strike

Iran attacks US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain
Iran Claims Response to US Action on Qeshm Island

Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain on Wednesday, describing the operation as a response to a recent US strike on Qeshm Island. Iranian military officials said the attacks were aimed at the US Fifth Fleet and an American air base in the Gulf region.

According to Iranian state media, the strikes were carried out after what Tehran described as US attacks on an Iranian telecommunications facility and an oil tanker. Iranian authorities said they had previously warned that any further military action against the country would trigger a stronger response.

Kuwait Activates Air Defences

As tensions rose across the Gulf, Kuwait’s military confirmed that its air defence systems were deployed to intercept incoming missiles and drones. Residents in several parts of the country reported hearing loud explosions during the early hours of Wednesday.

The Kuwaiti Army’s General Staff said the sounds were linked to interception operations conducted by air defence units. Authorities later urged residents to avoid any debris or unidentified objects that may have fallen during the interceptions, warning that such remnants could pose safety risks.

Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi called on the public to immediately report suspicious objects to emergency services and to rely only on official sources for updates.

Bahrain Issues Public Safety Alert

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry also activated warning sirens and advised citizens and residents to move to the nearest safe locations while following official safety instructions.

The alert came amid growing concerns over the expanding military confrontation between Iran and the United States in the Gulf region.

Iran Says US Fifth Fleet Was Targeted

Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB reported that the country’s armed forces targeted the US Fifth Fleet and an American air base as part of the retaliatory operation.

Military officials said the action was intended to demonstrate that any aggression against Iran would be met with a stronger response. Tehran described the strikes as the fulfilment of its earlier warnings regarding potential retaliation.

US Strike on Qeshm Island

The latest escalation follows a US military operation on Iran’s Qeshm Island on June 2. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the strike targeted a military ground control station allegedly used by Iran to coordinate drone operations.

US officials said the action came after American forces intercepted several Iranian drones and ballistic missiles launched across the Middle East.

Regional Tensions Continue to Rise

The exchange of attacks marks a significant escalation in the ongoing standoff between Washington and Tehran. With missile interceptions reported in Kuwait and security alerts issued in Bahrain, concerns are growing over the possibility of a wider conflict across the Gulf region. Regional governments remain on high alert as developments continue to unfold.
