Helicopters play an important role in Nepal’s tourism and transport sectors, particularly in the Himalayan region. They are commonly used to carry trekkers, climbers and essential supplies, as well as to conduct emergency evacuations in remote areas that are difficult to reach by road. However, high-altitude operations can present significant challenges because of the region’s rugged terrain and rapidly changing weather conditions. The latest collision has once again drawn attention to the risks associated with helicopter operations in the Everest region.
