Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana Scores Massive Music Deal
Ranbir Kapoor’s much-awaited Ramayana is making headlines even before its theatrical release. The upcoming mythological epic, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, has reportedly secured a massive music rights deal worth ₹75 crore with T-Series.
T-Series emerged victorious after a bidding battle with Sony Music. While Sony Music reportedly offered ₹70 crore for the music rights, T-Series raised the offer to ₹75 crore and secured the deal. If confirmed, the agreement would mark one of the biggest music rights transactions for a Hindi film. However, the filmmakers have not officially confirmed the reported deal yet.
T-Series’ Big Bet on Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana
Deal comes as anticipation around Ramayana continues to rise. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, with Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash in a key role. The project is being mounted on a huge scale and is planned as a two-part cinematic adaptation. The film’s music is another major attraction, with Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman and Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer associated with its musical score. The collaboration has added further international attention to the project.
₹75-crore music deal also surpasses T-Series’ earlier ₹54-crore music rights purchase for Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The company had previously been associated with Adipurush, another film inspired by the Ramayana. Beyond the music rights, Ramayana has also attracted major global interest through its distribution plans. Sony Pictures is involved in its worldwide release, while the film’s trailer is expected to receive a major theatrical rollout.
