Meghan Markle and Son Archie Mountbatten Windsor spoke to the Queen before Prince Philip’s funeral on Saturday

A royal source told People magazine that Meghan Markle and her son Archie Mountbatten Windsor spoke to the Queen before Prince Philip’s funeral on Saturday.

Before his grandfather was laid to rest, the Duchess of Sussex, 39, spoke with her husband and said she “knows the journey to England has been difficult for him.” After meeting only once with his father and Prince William following the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral, Prince Harry, 36, returned home to California yesterday, skipping the Queen’s 95th birthday today and leaving the Windsors’ family feud unresolved.

At around 4 p.m., his chauffeur-driven MPV was spotted leaving LAX’s private airport, which is reserved for celebrities and the super-rich, and arriving at the Montecito mansion he shares with Meghan, who is expecting their second child.

‘Meghan and Harry have been in contact every day,’ a source told the publication. She understands how tough Harry’s journey to England has been. He didn’t want Meghan and Archie to be alone. Meghan, on the other hand, has maintained that they are fine every day. She didn’t want him to be concerned.’

‘Meghan spoke with Harry before his grandfather’s funeral,’ they added. Earlier this week, Meghan and Archie met with the Queen.’ ‘They’ve seen Archie running around,’ Harry previously revealed in an interview with James Corden, adding, ‘They’ve seen Archie running around.’

The Royal Family has had a’very rough year,’ according to a well-connected royal source, worsened by Prince Philip’s death on April 9 at the age of 99.

‘The Duke was the family’s head, and if there was ever a time for them to come together, it was now,’ they said.

Following Saturday’s emotional funeral, William and Harry took ‘baby steps’ toward healing their relationship by walking back to Windsor Castle together from St George’s Chapel, having been brought together by peacemaker Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge. Later, the brothers and their father, Prince Charles, had a face-to-face meeting inside the grounds of the castle, but Charles and William preferred to meet with Harry together so that no one’s words could be misconstrued later, according to MailOnline’s Dan Wootton.

Sources said Harry was ‘conflicted’ about staying for the Queen’s birthday and wanted to get home to Meghan and Archie, who is one year old.

He’d arrived in the UK on an American Airlines flight just over a week before, and he’d spent the majority of his time in quarantine.

It was also the first time he’d seen his family since making controversial claims about royal prejudice in an interview with Oprah last month, saying that his father and brother are “trapped in the machine.”

According to the Mail on Sunday’s sources When Harry arrived at Philip’s funeral on Saturday, he was met with cold reception and largely ignored by senior royals, including Princess Anne and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.

Although the Duke of Edinburgh had requested that military uniform be worn for his funeral, Harry is not entitled to do so because he relinquished his military duties as part of the Megxit agreement.
