Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) national president Mayawati has formally expelled her nephew, Akash Anand, from the party, stripping him of his primary membership just days after removing him from the post of national coordinator. The latest action, announced on September 10, 2026, marks the most decisive break yet in a rift that has been building within the BSP’s top leadership for weeks. Mayawati had first stripped Akash Anand of his organisational role on September 3, 2026. With this expulsion, he now has no formal position or membership within the party he was once seen as being groomed to lead.
The immediate trigger for the expulsion, according to Mayawati, was the political retirement of Akash Anand’s father-in-law and former Rajya Sabha member Ashok Siddharth. The BSP chief said that had Siddharth stepped away from politics at the right time, neither the party, the wider Bahujan movement, nor Akash Anand himself would have had to face the recurring difficulties of recent months.
1. आज श्री अशोक सिद्धार्थ द्वारा राजनीति से संन्यास लेने की घोषणा अति-देर से उठाया गया यह सही क़दम है। 2. वैसे लोगों का यही कहना है कि अगर यह फैसला वे काफी पहले ही ले लेते तो बी.एस.पी., बहुजन समाज व बहुजन मूवमेन्ट तथा उनके दामाद श्री आकाश आनन्द को भी लगातार विपरीत परिस्थितियों का सामना नहीं करना पड़ता और ना ही मुझे विधानसभा आमचुनाव एवं ख़ासकर यूपी में पाँचवीं बार सरकार बनाने की ज़बरदस्त तैयारियों के बीच, पार्टी व मूवमेन्ट के व्यापक हित के मद्देनज़र इनके बारे में कई बार कड़े फैसले लेने आदि की ज़रूरत पड़ती। 3. वैसे यह भी सर्वविदित है कि बहुजन समाज पार्टी की अम्बेडकरवादी राजनीति की परम्परा, परमपूज्य बाबा साहेब डा. भीमराव अम्बेडकर के पदचिन्हों पर चलने वाली ज़बरदस्त त्याग, तपस्या, संघर्ष व कुर्बानी आदि के साथ-साथ सबसे बढ़कर निजी व पारिवारिक स्वार्थ से दूर रहने की विशिष्ठ पहचान की है, जिसे मान्यवर श्री कांशीराम जी की तरह ही मैं भी समर्पित हूँ और जिससे पार्टी के सभी लोगों को ज़रूर सबक़ सीखकर बी.एस.पी. में आगे बढ़ाने के लिये निजी व पारिवारिक स्वार्थ एवं पद आदि की लालसा से ऊपर उठना चाहिये तभी फिर यहाँ सदियों से शोषित, पीड़ित, उपेक्षित व तिरस्कृत ’बहुजन समाज’ ’शासक वर्ग’ बन पायेगा और इस क्रम में हमेशा याद रहे कि जितना महान लक्ष्य, उतनी ही बड़ी कुर्बानी की भी ज़रूरत होती है। 4. कुल मिलाकर, श्री अशोक सिद्धार्थ का राजनीति से संन्यास लेने का फैसला ’देर आये दुरुस्त आये’ की कहावत की तरह ही यह अच्छी बात है। 5. किन्तु श्री अशोक सिद्धार्थ को, अपने दामाद श्री आकाश आनन्द के उज्जवल भविष्य के साथ ही बी.एस.पी. पार्टी व इसके अम्बेडकरवादी बहुजन मूवमेन्ट के व्यापक हित के प्रति थोड़ी भी सही चिन्ता होती, (जो कि उनमें स्वाभाविक तौर पर होनी ही चाहिये), तो वे बिना देरी किये कल फ़ौरन ही राजनीति से संन्यास लेने की घोषणा कर देते और जिससे श्री आकाश आनन्द की पार्टी व मूवमेन्ट के प्रति सक्रियता काफी हद तक सुनिश्चित हो सकती थी, किन्तु ऐसा कुछ नहीं होना यह साबित करता है कि श्री अशोक सिद्धार्थ की नीयत में खोट व अभिलाषा कम नहीं हुई है बल्कि अभी तक भी पूरी तरह से बरक़रार है। 6. इतना ही नहीं बल्कि श्री आकाश आनन्द द्वारा भी अपने कैरियर से अधिक अपने ससुर श्री अशोक सिद्धार्थ के प्रति इस हद तक लगाव क़ायम है कि उन्होंने बी.एस.पी प्रमुख के सोशल मीडिया एकाउण्ट ’एक्स’ पर तत्सम्बंधी पोस्ट को रिपोस्ट करना भी उचित नहीं समझा, हालाँकि यह पोस्ट उनके ही सकारातमक व भलाई के लिये था। 7. जबकि इससे पहले वे बी.एस.पी. प्रमुख के ’एक्स’ पर पोस्ट को रिपोस्ट करके अपनी वफादारी का सबूत देने का प्रयास करते रहे हैं। इससे भी यही लगता है कि श्री अशोक सिद्धार्थ व श्री आकाश आनन्द दोनों को पार्टी व मूवमेन्ट की सफलता में कम व अपने निजी व पारिवारिक स्वार्थ का ज़्यादा मोह है, जबकि बी.एस.पी. ने ही इन दोनों को व अन्य अनेकों लोगों को भी फर्श (ज़मीन) से अर्श (आसमान) की बुलन्दी पर पहुँचाया है और जिसके लिये उन सभी लोगों द्वारा बी.एस.पी. व उसके नेतृत्व का जितना भी वे लोग अहसान मानें व शुक्रगुज़ार हों, वह कम ही होगा, ऐसा सभी लोगों का मानना है। 8. ऐसे हालात में श्री आकाश आनन्द को पार्टी व मूवमेन्ट के वास्तविक हित तथा इससे जुड़े अपने कैरियर की भी परवाह कम तथा रिश्ते-नातों आदि का मोह ज़्यादा है तो ऐसे में यह सवाल उठना स्वाभाविक है कि श्री आकाश आनन्द डबल माइण्ड होकर फिर बी.एस.पी. पार्टी व मूवमेन्ट का भला कैसे कर सकते हैं? 9. इसीलिये पार्टी के लोगों को यही बेहतर लगता है कि उन्हें पहले दिनांक 3 सितम्बर 2026 को जिस प्रकार से पार्टी के राष्ट्रीय संयोजक के अति-महत्वपूर्ण पद की सभी अहम ज़िम्मेदारियों से मुक्त कर दिया गया था, उसी प्रकार अब उन्हें पार्टी में भी आज से पूरी तरह से फ्री (आज़ाद) कर दिया जाये। अतः श्री आकाश आनन्द पार्टी में अब स्वतंत्र रहना चाहते हैं तो वे स्वतंत्र हैं अर्थात ऐेस में अब इनको पार्टी से पूरेतौर से मुक्त कर दिया गया है। 10. अन्त में यही कहना है कि बी.एस.पी के सभी लोगों को, विरोधियों के साम, दाम, दण्ड, भेद आदि सभी प्रकार के हथकण्डों का डट कर सामना करते हुये ख़ासकर यूपी में फिर से पूर्ण बहमत की अपनी ’सर्वजन हिताय व सर्वजन सुखाय’ की ज़बरदस्त क़ानून-व्यवस्था व बेहतरीन विकास वाली आयरन हुकूमत बनाने के संघर्ष में, पूरे जी-जान से अर्थात पूरे तन, मन, धन की लगन से लगे रहें, बस यही लक्ष्य सर्वोपरि है।

Mayawati was particularly critical of what she described as divided loyalties on Akash Anand’s part. She pointed out that he had routinely reposted her messages on social media in the past, but had not done so for her post referencing Ashok Siddharth. She characterised this as clear evidence that he was placing family ties above his commitment to the party, asking pointedly how someone acting with a “double mind” could ever serve the BSP’s interests.
She also questioned Siddharth’s motives directly, saying that if he had genuinely been concerned about Akash Anand’s political future and the welfare of the Bahujan movement, he would have exited active politics much earlier. His intentions and personal ambitions, she added, remained under a cloud even now.
Following the expulsion, Mayawati turned her attention to the road ahead, urging BSP workers to counter all political manoeuvres by rival parties with full strength. She called on cadres to unite behind the party’s founding principle of “sarvajan hitay, sarvajan sukhay” (welfare and happiness for all) as the BSP works toward securing a full majority government in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. The episode is the latest twist in a long-running family drama within the BSP, following earlier reports of a temporary softening in Mayawati’s stance toward Akash Anand, conditional on his return of certain organisational responsibilities. With Uttar Pradesh’s 2027 polls drawing closer, the leadership upheaval adds fresh uncertainty to the party’s electoral preparations at a critical juncture.
