Iran Hits F-35 Hangars, US Bases After American Strikes Over Apache Downing

Iran Targets F-35 Hangars

Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated sharply after Washington carried out military strikes on Iranian targets following the reported downing of a US Army Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz. The latest developments have raised concerns about a wider regional conflict, even as diplomatic efforts to reduce hostilities remain uncertain.

According to US officials, American forces targeted several Iranian air defence and radar installations around the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. Reports from Iranian media indicated that explosions were heard in multiple southern locations, including Jask, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, and Sirik, although the full extent of the damage remains unclear.

Iranian state-affiliated outlets claimed that some civilian infrastructure was also affected during the attacks. Among the reported damage were two water storage tanks in Sirik’s Bemani district and a telecommunications tower. Local reports suggested that a series of explosions had occurred across southern Iran over a short period.

Iran quickly responded with strong warnings, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stating that Tehran would not allow any attack or threat to go unanswered. He also issued a message urging foreign military forces to leave the region if they wished to avoid further confrontation.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had launched a drone operation targeting the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain in retaliation for the strikes. The group also warned that additional measures could follow if what it described as US military aggression continued. Iranian military sources further stated that several US military positions in the region had been targeted in a coordinated operation.

Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior acknowledged the security situation and advised residents to remain calm while following safety instructions and moving to secure locations if necessary.

Meanwhile, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that its forces had completed what it described as self-defence operations against Iranian military assets. According to CENTCOM, the strikes were carried out in response to recent attacks on US personnel and international commercial shipping operating in regional waters.

US military officials said precision-guided munitions launched by Air Force and Navy fighter aircraft were used to hit Iranian air defence systems, ground control facilities, and surveillance radar sites near the Strait of Hormuz. The operation followed an investigation into the Apache helicopter incident, which reportedly found that an Iranian drone was involved in the aircraft’s crash, though officials said it was still unclear whether the action had been deliberate.

The latest exchange of military action has intensified concerns about stability in the Gulf region, with both Washington and Tehran signalling that they are prepared to respond to further threats, increasing fears of a broader confrontation.
