India is celebrating its 72nd Republic Day today with a shortened programme in Rajpath, Delhi, in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. The curriculum begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 11.25 after the traditional fly.
Apart from a shortened schedule of events, the parade would also have a shorter course, no chief guests, fewer observers, no children under 15 in the annual parade, and fewer troops in the Army and Navy contingents.
Prime Minister Modi wears a special ‘Paghdi’ from Jamnagar. The first such ‘Paghdi’ was gifted to the PM by the royal family of Jamnagar, Gujarat.
