Oprah Winfrey said she was “surprised” that Meghan Markle “went all the way there” with her accusations of bias towards the royal family during her explosive interview.
The 67-year-old TV host said she had “no idea” the meeting would have such an effect, adding that the couple wanted to be able to share their story in a way that “allowed them to be as honest as possible.”

When asked whether she was impressed by Harry and Meghan’s candor and openness during the interview, the TV host admitted she was. Meghan’s assertion that there had been ‘conversations with Harry about how dark [Archie’s] skin could be when he’s born,’ she said, astounded her.

Oprah said she had only texted Harry and Meghan prior to the interview, and her only impression was that they were committed to telling the truth.
‘Whenever I have a significant interview with someone, I have a conversation with them first,’ she said.
‘I hadn’t seen Harry and Meghan before, but I texted them and told them that purpose is really important to me, and that they can tell me what their intention is so that we can be on the same page.’ And the truth was our common goal.
