Oprah reveals she was surprised that Meghan Markle ‘went all the way there’ with allegations of racism against the royal family.

Oprah Winfrey said she was “surprised” that Meghan Markle “went all the way there” with her accusations of bias towards the royal family during her explosive interview.

The 67-year-old TV host said she had “no idea” the meeting would have such an effect, adding that the couple wanted to be able to share their story in a way that “allowed them to be as honest as possible.”

When Prince Philip was still in hospital with a pre-existing heart disease, the tell-all interview with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex aired on March 8. A month later, he passed away.

During his interview with Oprah, Harry hinted at a deep divide between the brothers, saying the relationship was now just’space.’ Hopefully, time will heal all wounds.’

The brothers were seen talking animatedly as they left St George’s Chapel for the first time since the interview at their grandfather’s funeral last Saturday.

While the meeting was a ‘good start and lovely to see,’ a friend told People that the gap ‘runs so deep.’ There isn’t a fast fix, in my opinion.’

During the launch of Nancy O’Dell’s Channel on talk shop live, where she was promoting her book ‘What Happened To You?’ Oprah commented on the explosive interview. ‘Trauma, Resilience, and Healing Discussions.’ ‘I had no idea it would have such a wide-ranging effect, which it has and continues to have.’ ‘I spent a lot of time preparing for that,’ she said. When asked whether she was impressed by Harry and Meghan’s candor and openness during the interview, the TV host admitted she was. Meghan’s assertion that there had been ‘conversations with Harry about how dark [Archie’s] skin could be when he’s born,’ she said, astounded her.

Oprah’s jaw dropped and she stopped for a moment before answering incredulously, ‘What?’ — a reaction that has since gone viral on social media as a meme.

Wow! In particular, she said, she was shocked when Meghan said that royal family members had had ‘conversations with Harry about how dark [Archie’s] skin might be when he’s born’

‘I’m like, ‘I’m like,’ “What are you talking about? Is it true that you’re going there? You’re driving all the way there, aren’t you? “‘That was my thought process at the moment,’ Oprah stated.

Oprah said she had only texted Harry and Meghan prior to the interview, and her only impression was that they were committed to telling the truth.

‘Whenever I have a significant interview with someone, I have a conversation with them first,’ she said.

‘I hadn’t seen Harry and Meghan before, but I texted them and told them that purpose is really important to me, and that they can tell me what their intention is so that we can be on the same page.’ And the truth was our common goal.

‘They wanted to be able to tell their story in a way that allowed them to be as honest as possible,’ says the author.
