On Wednesday, Joe Biden was sworn in as the United States’ 46th President. His successor, Kamala Harris, also took the oath of a new vice president, becoming the first woman, the Black person, and the first Asian-American to serve in that role.

Inaugural ball of the Asian American Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Grammy-nominated Indian-American rapper Raja Kumari represented India
Speaking to the media, Raja Kumari said excitedly, “I am beyond honoured and grateful to be representing the Indian-American community at the AAPI inaugural ball. This election was personal for so many of us and watching Kamala Harris become the first South Asian and African American to hold the office of Vice President will be the most awe-inspiring moment…something we tell our children about.”
Due to security issues, the presidential parade from the US Capitol into the White House through Pennsylvania Avenue and the Washington DC National Mall has been postponed. Rather, as Biden reaches the White House, a TV occurrence described as a “Parade Across America.”
This ‘America Parade’ will feature performances from groups across the United States.
After the live broadcast, Biden and Harris will take the oath of office, following which the newly elected President will give his inaugural speech. In the next four years, Biden will set out a blueprint for his presidency. He will expand on his plans to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, improve the economy and unite the country.
