Koffee With Karan 9: Salman Khan Returns for the Final Season, and Karan Has an Old Question

Koffee With Karan 9

Salman Khan is back on Karan Johar’s couch, and a question from his first appearance has followed him there.

The actor will open Koffee With Karan 9, the celebrity chat show’s ninth and final season, which begins streaming on October 14, 2026, on The Peacock Hub on JioHotstar. A newly released promo offers a preview of their conversation, including a callback to Salman’s much-discussed 2013 appearance.

Karan asks, “Are you still a virgin?”

Salman sidesteps the question with an imitation of Ravi Kishan: “Control, my brother, control.” The exchange revisits a remark Salman made during Season 4, which Karan later explained was delivered as deadpan humour.

The teasing goes both ways. Salman jokes about a possible Koffee With Salman and suggests Karan could be using the promise of a final season to persuade guests to appear. Those moments are part of the promo’s banter, rather than an announcement of a replacement show.

A familiar guest for the farewell season

Salman has marked major moments in the show’s history before. He made his debut in the Season 4 premiere in 2013, an episode that also featured his father, screenwriter Salim Khan.

He later returned with brothers Arbaaz and Sohail Khan for the show’s 100th episode during Season 5. His latest visit brings him back for another milestone: the beginning of Karan’s farewell run.

The announcement teaser also leaned into their easy back-and-forth. After Karan suggested that a final season could take an unpredictable turn, Salman responded with a joke implying it already had.

Why Karan Johar is ending the show

Karan has described the decision as personal and emotional. Speaking to Variety, he said he wanted to devote the next decade to directing more films and telling more stories through cinema.

Koffee With Karan began in 2004 with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as its first guests. Across eight completed seasons and 161 episodes, its celebrity interviews and rapid-fire rounds became a recurring part of Bollywood conversation.

The farewell season has also attracted eight brand partners, including Visa, Jaquar Bath + Light and Cadbury Bournville, according to afaqs!.

For viewers, the first date to mark is October 14, when Salman’s full conversation with Karan arrives on JioHotstar.
