Covid-19 update: Vaccines against covid enter many Indian cities

Covishield’s first sample, the Indian Coronavirus Serum Institute Vaccine, left Pune earlier this morning, four days before the national COVID-19 inoculation drive, in Delhi and 12 other cities.

Three heat-controlled trucks rolled with their precious cargo from the gates of the Serum Institute shortly before 5:00 am in tight security. 478 crates, each 32kg, were transported, according to a PTI news service, citing an unidentified official. The news agency PTI says. Before vehicles left the Pune Airport plant, a “puja” was done, along with conventional broken coconuts.

Air India, SpicesJet, and IndiaGo Airlines will be running 9 flights to Delhi, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Chandigarh from Pune, which have 56.5 Lakh doses, today in another tweet.

Two cargo flights to Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Kolkata and Guwahati also provide the vaccinations. The shipment will leave for Mumbai by road.

Covishield’s 1.01 crore doses were ordered from the government and it plans to purchase a total of 5.60 crore doses per dose by April at a cost of 200.

Emergency Usage Clearance from the Indian Drug Controller of earlier this Month has been obtained at the Covishield Production University of Oxford and pharma major AstraZeneca and Bharat Biotech Covaxin. The vaccines are two-dose and have to be given at a gap of 28 days.

India to help neighbours country

In order to secure a “emergency use authorisation” under the aid programme, India will send small quantities of the Covid-19 vaccine to the neighbouring countries, while commercial distribution will only be given upon market authorisation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that commercial deliveries to foreign countries of Serum Covishield and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin should be carried out in accordance with the Ministry of Pharmaceutical, under the auspices of the Foreign Ministry. PM Modi talks with the Ministry of Public Health about vaccine management and ensures that both government and private sectors are in alignment.

Covid vaccination searches and tweets

Google Trends data reveals that the general subject ‘Covid-19 vaccine’ has generated much more awareness among Indian citizens in online search than any particular vaccine candidate since October. And as Indian users searched for unique vaccine choices, Pfizer lead the way by far in global pharmaceuticals. The ‘covid-19 vaccine’ subject data involves a scan for several keywords and associated search strings.

The United States on December 11, 2020 A first emergency use authorisation (EUA) for coronavirus prevention 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination was provided by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to persons between 16 years of age and more for serious acute respiracy syndroma coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine can be administered in the United States with the Emergency Use Authorisation.

Approvals from India gradually led to some online curiosity in domestic vaccines. Part of the explanation was that in the first week of January, Adar Poonawalla CEO of Serum Institute indirectly opposed Bharat Biotech vaccine with the end of all vaccinations worldwide that had three — Pfizer, Moderna, and Oxford-AstraZeneca — being “safe like water.”
