Mirzapur Is Coming to the Big Screen and the Teaser Just Broke the Internet

Mirzapur The Movie Teaser

Three seasons. Countless rewatches. One iconic gaddi. And now, Mirzapur is finally making the jump from your OTT screen to the theatre. The teaser for Mirzapur: The Movie dropped on June 25, 2026, and safe to say, the internet handled it exactly the way you’d expect.

Kaleen Bhaiya is back on his throne. Guddu Pandit still has that same dangerous calm. And the biggest gut-punch of the teaser? Munna Bhaiya is alive. Divyenndu Sharma reprises the role that everyone thought was done after Season 2, and the teaser makes it very clear that his return is not a cameo. It is central to the story.

What the Teaser Actually Shows

The teaser does not give you the full picture. It is not supposed to. What it does instead is set the mood and hint at something bigger than what the series covered. There is a clear suggestion that this film goes back to the origin of the Mirzapur empire, exploring how the power structure was built before things fell apart across the three seasons.

Two fresh additions are doing a lot of heavy lifting here. Jitendra Kumar and Ravi Kishan both show up in roles that seem to tie into the backstory, and their presence hints at a wider political and criminal web that the series never fully unpacked. If the film is actually exploring the roots of Kaleen Bhaiya’s empire, this cast addition makes complete sense.

The visual language is also noticeably larger. The framing feels cinematic in a way that is different from the show. Director Gurmeet Singh helmed key episodes of the original series too, so he knows this world well, but shooting for theatres clearly pushed the scale up.

The Full Cast and What We Know

Pankaj Tripathi returns as Akhandanand Tripathi, Ali Fazal is back as Guddu Pandit, and the core cast from the series largely carries over. Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Duggal, Abhishek Banerjee, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Harshita Gaur are all in. Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Sushant Singh, Mohit Malik, Sonal Chauhan, and Rajesh Tailang round out what is genuinely a stacked ensemble.

The script is written by Puneet Krishna, who created the original Mirzapur series. That is a big deal. It means the people who built this universe are the ones expanding it, not a new team handed the keys.

Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani are producing under Excel Entertainment, with Amazon MGM Studios presenting. Principal photography wrapped in February 2026. The film releases worldwide on September 4, 2026, in Hindi and Telugu.

Pankaj Tripathi himself had hinted at the approach earlier, comparing the process to brewing tea properly: you wait until it has fully come to a boil before you serve it. Based on the teaser, it looks like they waited.

September 4 is the date. The gaddi is waiting.
