Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has accepted the resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, clearing the path for Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar to take charge as the next Chief Minister of the state.
An official communication from Lok Bhavan confirmed that the Governor accepted Mr. Siddaramaiah’s resignation and dissolved the Council of Ministers led by him. Until the swearing-in of the new government, Siddaramaiah will continue as caretaker Chief Minister.

A Congress Legislative Party meeting is also likely to be convened soon after the final cabinet decisions are made.
